Storm and hurricane preparation

The house is ready before the cone appears.

A documented readiness protocol that begins in spring, a prioritized pre-landfall route, and verified post-event assessment with the photographic record an insurer will accept.

The problem

What actually goes wrong.

A named storm gives you seventy-two hours of usable warning. In that window every shutter installer in the county is booked, the fuel stations run dry, the plywood is gone, and the last flights into Daytona and Orlando fill with people trying to get out, not in. If you are in Connecticut or Ohio when the cone shifts, you are not going to beat that.

The days after are worse in a quieter way. Power is out, cell service is intermittent, and you cannot get a straight answer about your own house. Insurers begin taking claims immediately, and the claims that settle cleanly are the ones with dated photographs of the property before the storm and after it. Almost nobody has the before.

The protocol

How the work is done.

Storm work is a season, not a weekend. Atlantic hurricane season runs from the first of June to the end of November, and our calendar is built backward from that.
  1. 01

April and May — readiness assessment

A written, photographed assessment of everything the storm will test: roof and flashing condition, the condition and fit of every shutter or panel, door and garage bracing, generator service and fuel, sump and drainage, tree limbs within striking distance, and loose exterior objects. You receive a report with a prioritized list of what should be corrected before June, with costs.

  2. 02

    May — corrections and staging

We coordinate the corrections you approve, and we stage the property for the season: shutter hardware inventoried and labeled, panels test-fitted so nothing is discovered at hour seventy of a seventy-two hour window, generator run under load, and fuel confirmed.

  3. 03

    Formation — watch and contact

When a system enters the basin with a track that could affect the county, you hear from us before you hear from the news cycle. We confirm your intentions for the property and your contact protocol while phone service is still reliable.

  4. 04

    72 to 24 hours — pre-landfall route

Properties are secured in a prioritized order set in advance, not first-come. Shutters and panels installed, exterior furniture and objects brought in, pool water level and chemistry adjusted, patio drains cleared, utilities managed to your instruction, interior valuables moved off floor level where agreed, and a complete dated photographic record made of the property in its secured condition.

  5. 05

    Landfall — no heroics

Nobody is on the road during the event. Our people are safe, which is the only condition under which they are useful to you afterward.

  6. 06

    After — verification and documentation

As soon as the county allows movement, we work the same priority order. You receive an assessment with dated photographs, typically within twenty-four hours of access being restored, whether the news is that a soffit is gone or that nothing at all happened.

  7. 07

    Recovery — documentation and access

Where there is damage, you receive the complete before-and-after photographic record for your own use, and we provide site access for the adjuster's inspection and for the remediation vendors you engage. We are not public adjusters: we do not prepare, present, or negotiate an insurance claim, and we do not direct the remediation work. The record is yours, and it is the strongest thing you can put in front of your own adjuster.

What you receive

The record you are left with.

  • A written storm readiness report each spring

Condition of every protective element, a prioritized correction list with costs, and confirmation of what is staged and where it is stored.

  • A dated pre-landfall photographic record

The condition of your property immediately before the event, timestamped. This is the single most useful document you can hand an adjuster, and it is the one almost no owner has.

  • Post-event assessment within a day of access

Photographs and a written assessment as soon as the roads open, so you know what you are dealing with before you decide whether to travel.

  • A complete loss documentation package

The dated before-and-after record, the vendor access log, and our attendance notes, assembled and handed to you. You take it to your own adjuster.

Pre-landfall securing is included in Signature membership, as part of full storm season standby. Executive members have the pre-season readiness assessment included and book activation and panel deployment at member priority; Essential members book it as a scheduled service. Priority order within the route is set by tier and by property exposure, and it is confirmed with you in writing before the season opens.

Common questions

What owners ask first.

What should I do before a hurricane if I live out of state?
Decide in May, not in September. Confirm who has physical access to the property, that your shutters or panels are complete and test-fitted, that your generator has been run under load, and that someone will make a dated photographic record of the property in its secured condition. Confirm your policy's hurricane deductible and what documentation your carrier expects. Then confirm in writing who is authorized to act on your behalf if you cannot be reached.
How soon after a storm will I know the condition of my home?
Typically within twenty-four hours of the county permitting movement, in the priority order agreed before the season. Where cell service is down we will reach you as soon as we have signal, and the assessment is written on site regardless.
Do you board up or install shutters yourselves?
We deploy and secure the storm protection already in place on your property — closing accordion shutters, hanging panels, tensioning fabric systems — and we engage licensed contractors directly with you for anything requiring new installation, mounting, or structural work. We are not contractors and do not perform that work ourselves. Systems are inventoried and test-fitted in May so nothing is improvised under a warning.

The next step

Begin with a conversation.

Every engagement starts the same way: a conversation about the property, a walkthrough, and a written care plan before any commitment. If we are not the right firm for your estate, we will tell you that.

We respond to every request within one business day.
